Donation handover: Sparkassenversicherung supports fire brigades

The umbrella organisations of the volunteer fire brigades in the district can once again look forward to financial support for their valuable work for the common good. District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst accepted two donations from General Agency Manager Andreas Backhaus, SV SparkassenVersicherung, at a meeting in the Korbach District House. SparkassenVersicherung is supporting the general association work of the district fire brigade association with 500 euros, and the district youth fire brigade is receiving 300 euros for its delegates' meeting.

"The district fire brigade associations are an important link between local fire brigades and the subsequent associations at state and federal level," Andreas Backhaus emphasised. In addition to sponsoring individual events in the associations' work, he said, SparkassenVersicherung also repeatedly receives suggestions as to which technical areas of fire and disaster protection could still be improved and could use support. The head of the general agency emphasised the importance of youth work in the volunteer fire brigades, also in order to recruit new blood for the boards in the long term.

"We are grateful to SparkassenVersicherung for maintaining its tradition of donating to our fire brigades, especially but not only in youth work," said District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst, confirming a high demand for support. The SV General Agency can also provide valuable help, for example, with the mobile barrages, which address the problem of water supply in the countryside. The volunteer fire brigades are facing growing challenges, not least because of the increase in forest fires or flood damage due to climate change. Any opportunity to adapt or improve operational techniques is therefore most welcome, van der Horst concluded.
