Media centre of the district has a new director

The media centre of the district in Korbach and Frankenberg has a new director: Alexander Emde from Korbach has taken over on 1 February 2023 - replacing the long-time director Dr Richard George, who retired at the end of January this year.

Promoting media competence
The media centre of the district supports not only teachers but all those who are active in the field of youth and adult education - whether by renting equipment or making digital educational media available online. Professional video and photo technology or various robotics sets can also be made available for teaching. The offer also includes counselling and further training on the competent use of media and equipment. The centre wants to contribute to supporting teachers in imparting education and media skills to children, young people and adults.

Alexander Emde, who in recent years has worked as a teacher of economics and computer science at the Friedrich List School in Wiesbaden, returned to his old home in Korbach in August last year, where he has since worked as a senior teacher at the vocational schools in Korbach and Bad Arolsen. At the same time, the 40-year-old was appointed head of the district's media centre on 1 February. He succeeds Dr Richard George, who headed the centre for many years and recently took his well-deserved retirement.

Advancing modern education
As the new head of the media centre, Alexander Emde will be responsible for organising and supervising the media equipment as well as training the teachers. He will also deal intensively with the further development of digital learning opportunities and drive them forward in terms of modern education. "Alexander Emde brings both professional know-how and pedagogical experience and will continue to develop the media centre into an innovative and contemporary place of learning," says District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst, wishing him a good start in his new job. "At the same time, I would also like to thank his predecessor Dr Richard George for his many years of dedicated service in this area."

"The media centre is a service provider for teachers in the region and we hope to continue to contribute to teachers being able to use media for modern and innovative teaching," says Alexander Emde. "I also find the transition to a digital working world and future challenges such as the integration of artificial intelligence into teaching particularly exciting." He would like to expand the centre's offerings in the future: "We are planning a modern training room for teachers - a so-called Maker Space - where they can try out modern media such as laser cutters or scanners and printers in 3D themselves. There will also be the opportunity to try out the workplace of the future: A professional vlogging and a gaming workstation will be set up. "The purpose of this is to keep teachers up to date with the latest technology and not lose touch with their students."
