Parents' café with read-aloud offer: offer will be continued in 2023

In 2023, there will again be parent cafés with reading aloud; the first two cafés will take place on Friday, January 13, in Frankenberg and Monday, January 16, in Korbach. The offer from the Youth Service of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district with the subject area of early help was established as part of the expired action program "Catching up with Corona" and is now being carried out in cooperation with the cities of Frankenberg and Korbach. It is aimed at parents with young children, with a focus on children from birth to 3 years of age; siblings are also welcome.

The current Corona rules are observed at the parent cafés in cooperation with the two public libraries. A child-friendly environment and guidance by library staff and a pedagogical specialist provide the best conditions for all visitors to the Parents' Café to spend a few pleasant hours in the public libraries. Parents can look forward to interesting and stimulating readings, and can go on a journey of discovery into the world of books together with their child. In addition, parents and children can borrow so-called explorer backpacks, which are filled with age-appropriate picture books, read-aloud books, a hand puppet, a radio play and a Tonie figure, for example.

There is only a limited number of participants at the parent cafés with read-alouds, so registration is required:

  • for the Frankenberg event at email buecherei@frankenberg.de for Jan. 13, 2023 at 4 p.m. by Jan. 6.
  • for the event in Korbach at email stadtbuecherei@korbach.de for January 16, 2023 at 4 p.m. by January 13.

Participation is free of charge.
