Anniversary exhibition opens in Bad Wildungen on 22 August
Waldeck-Frankenberg is celebrating its 50th anniversary - among other things with a travelling exhibition, which was conceived together with the Wolfgang-Bonhage-Museum Korbach, the Museum im Kloster Frankenberg and the Bad Wildungen Municipal Museums. Having already made stops in Korbach and Frankenberg, the exhibition is now travelling on to Bad Wildungen - and will be opened on 22 August at 6.30 pm in the Quellensaal of the Wandelhalle.
50 years, 50 stories from Waldeck-Frankenberg
As part of the travelling exhibition "Wir runden!", 50 people from the district tell their personal stories that connect them to Waldeck-Frankenberg. They all live here - some have only been here for a few months, others have lived here their whole lives. Some have experienced the district merger at first hand, others only know it from history books. They all bring an individual view of North Hesse's largest district - and thus reflect the diverse good life in Waldeck-Frankenberg.
Kir Royale & classic cars: opening on 22 August in Bad Wildungen
The popular travelling exhibition to mark the district's anniversary can be seen in the Wandelhalle Bad Wildungen from 22 August to 20 October - daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Individual guided tours for groups are possible by prior appointment. The official opening of the exhibition will take place on 22 August at 6.30 pm in the Quellensaal. In addition to Kir Royale and canapés, a Mercedes S-Class W 116 saloon will be on display on the opening evening.
Anyone interested can settle down on a cosy sofa from the 70s to talk to Olaf Schuller from Bad Wildungen Kreativ about their memories and impressions of this special decade. Bad Wildungen Kreativ is an online format that focusses on current events in the spa town. Admission is free. The opening will be accompanied by music from Viktoria Nierhaus and Christopher Peel. They will be performing classics from the 70s, inviting you on a journey through time.
"Bad Wildungen will be the last stop for the exhibition in the anniversary year for the time being. We would like to cordially invite all interested parties to the opening and a visit to the exhibition," say District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst and First District Councillor Karl-Friedrich Frese. "We are delighted that this successful travelling exhibition is now coming to us and will take visitors on a colourful and multifaceted journey back to the 1970s," adds Bad Wildung museum director Lisa Beutler. Of course, anyone who wants to can also come to the opening in the look of the 70s.
Design icons from the 70s
Brightly coloured flokati carpets, Pril flowers, vintage armchairs and motif wallpaper: In addition to the personal stories, the exhibition is all about the 70s. Visitors can also look forward to design icons from this period, which not only reflect the zeitgeist of this special decade, but also invite them on a short journey through time into the extraordinary history of the district. The district and the museums would like to express their sincere thanks to all those who have contributed to the exhibition or provided exhibits from their personal collections. This has played a major part in breathing life into the exhibition.
The travelling exhibition is just one of numerous activities that the district has planned to celebrate its 50th birthday in style. A big anniversary celebration is also planned at Korbach Südring on 28 and 29 September. All information about the events can also be found online on the anniversary website created especially for the milestone birthday at www.50jahre-gutleben.de.
Background
The formation of the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg through the merger of the two old districts in 1974 was the result of a comprehensive regional reform that the state of Hesse had initiated half a decade earlier and steadily driven forward. The state government hoped that the mergers would result in larger and therefore more efficient municipal administrations. The creation of the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg was regulated by the law on the reorganisation of the districts of Frankenberg and Waldeck of 28 September 1973, which came into force on 1 January 1974: Waldeck-Frankenberg was born!
