Together for our earth - carol singers deliver blessings
Together for our planet - in Amazonia and around the world: this is the motto under which the carol singers of the Three Kings' Singing campaign are travelling this year and once again stopped off at the district administration building in Korbach to deliver their blessing. District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst welcomed the boys and girls and from now on the well-known "Christus Mansionem Benedicat", C+M+B = Christ bless this house, will once again adorn the district administration.
Slash-and-burn agriculture, deforestation and the ruthless exploitation of resources are destroying the livelihoods of the population in the Amazon region. In addition to the population, nature is also suffering from human influence. The world's largest contiguous tropical rainforest is making a major contribution to slowing down global warming. Although this is a well-known fact, the rainforest continues to be exploited and thus further damaged. This year, the Three Kings' Singing campaign is therefore focussing on the preservation of creation and the respectful treatment of people and nature, thus drawing attention to the circumstances in the Amazon.
"The protection of nature and people is an issue that should concern everyone, especially in this day and age, and I think it's great that you are drawing attention to the circumstances in Amazonia," said the District Administrator. The partner organisations of the carol singers campaign for the rights of children in many regions of the world, namely the right to a protected environment. Every year, the Star Singers focus on a different topic. The donations collected by the boys and girls are channelled into aid projects for children in around one hundred countries worldwide. Last year, the nationwide campaign raised almost 45.5 million euros.
The District Administrator will also be donating again this year and hopes that many people in Waldeck-Frankenberg will do the same.
