Chief emergency physicians and organisational heads of rescue services appointed
At a small ceremony in the district hall in Korbach, Karl-Friedrich Frese, First District Councillor responsible for the emergency services in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg, appointed two new Chief Emergency Physicians (LNA): Dr Peter Korcsmár and Dr Antje Wöhner. The team of the Organisational Management of the Rescue Service (OLRD) has also received support - Karsten Loch, Michael Stehl and Pia Zinkhöfer are now part of the team following their appointment by the First District Councillor.
An LNA and an OLRD together form the rescue service operations command, which is alerted via the central rescue control centre in the event of major incidents, e.g. with several injured or seriously ill people. Their task is to coordinate and implement the necessary medical and organisational assistance measures on site.
The appointment is linked to the appointment as an honorary civil servant of the district. "This is intended to emphasise the special loyalty of the office holder, but also to express appreciation for their work," emphasised the First District Councillor. With the new appointees, the district now has nine senior emergency physicians and 17 organisational heads of rescue services, who can be deployed across the entire district.
"We have thus established a comprehensive network so that the next LNA and OLRD can reach the scene of the incident without delay," emphasised Frese. Of course, there is also the on-call system, which makes it possible to be ready for action at any time. In practice, however, it has been shown that, as a rule, those members who are not on standby but live closer to the scene of the incident are also ready for action. This comprehensive supply network is particularly important in the largest district in Hesse with a number of potential centres of damage - such as the bike arena in summer and the Willingen ski resort or the three reservoirs in winter.
Dr Rudolf Alexi, Medical Director of the rescue service in the district, emphasised the importance of the joint rescue service operations management. "I am particularly pleased about the further increase in the number of senior emergency physicians and organisational heads of the rescue service, who can now replace the members who have left." On behalf of the members who have left in recent years, Dr Alexi thanked the recently retired LNA Dr Michael Tübben in particular for his voluntary work. In the last 12 months, the Rescue Service Operations Centre has been deployed to 15 major incidents in the district. The system has proved its worth throughout the district.
