"The Trojan War"

"The Trojan War"

An in-house production with texts by Christa Wolf, Aeschylus, Homer, Jean Giraudoux and others by the youth club of the KOM'MA Theatre Duisburg under the direction of Anna Brass.

"The Trojan War will not happen, Cassandra."

The project began with the desire to make something out of Greek mythology. The figure of Cassandra was chosen as the thematic basis and the research focussed on her - and the Trojan War.

(Almost) no overt references to today, the current state of the world, the war in Ukraine - the play remains an ancient story, a theatre piece and therefore also a protective framework for the performers. The transfer, the similarities, the frighteningly topical sentences such as "Did anyone in Troy speak of war? No. He would have been punished." is left to the audience: It is the story of a war - and that of an outsider who nobody believes because nobody wants to believe her.

The Duisburg children's and youth theatre KOM'MA-Theater is one of the oldest independent children's and youth theatres in Germany. The KOM'MA theatre's youth club has been in existence since 2009.
