Neighbourhood assistance

  • Performance specification

Shopping, cleaning the living space or preparing meals: Many people in need of care are regularly dependent on help in their daily lives, which caregivers cannot provide. This is often where acquaintances or neighbours come in to help with the errands. Since October 2022, volunteers can be recognised by the district as neighbourhood helpers.

Supporters can receive up to the amount of the currently valid relief amount - currently 125 euros per month - from the care insurance fund for their services if they have previously been recognised for this activity by the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg. The prerequisite for recognition is participation in a first aid course, which must not be older than three years at the start of the activity, or comparable or higher-level training (e.g. training in nursing/care for the elderly). Furthermore, neighbourhood helpers may not be related to the person in need of care up to the second degree by blood or marriage or live with them in the same household. In addition, they may support a maximum of three people per month and only charge a flat-rate expense allowance for their services. In addition, a police clearance certificate (an extended police clearance certificate if supporting children and young people) and proof of private liability insurance must be provided.

If you fulfil the requirements, you can submit an application to the district's social affairs department
