Night care is intended to support care at home. You can make use of night care services if home care cannot be ensured to a sufficient extent or if this is necessary to supplement or strengthen home care.

Within the framework of the maximum benefit amounts, the long-term care insurance fund covers the care-related expenses, including the expenses for care, and the expenses for the medical treatment care services required in the facility. The costs for accommodation and meals as well as separately billable investment costs, on the other hand, must always be borne privately.

Night care facilities care for people in need of care who require assistance with going to bed, getting up and with personal hygiene measures.

Night care facilities are often used by persons with dementia who have a disturbed day-night rhythm. When they are accommodated in a night care facility at night, relatives can sleep through the night and return to caring for the person in need of care during the day.

Persons in need of care in care levels 2 to 5 may claim day and night care in addition to outpatient care benefits in kind, care allowance or the combination benefit according to § 38, without offsetting against these entitlements.

A monthly relief amount of € 125.00 can be additionally used for short-term care. This amount can also be accumulated over several months. Preventive care can also be granted under certain conditions. In principle, assistance for care can also be granted for partial inpatient services. (Short-term care and preventive care is often provided directly before full inpatient admission to a care facility).
