Applying for authorisation for a temporary building

  • Performance specification

Temporary structures are structures that are suitable and intended to be repeatedly erected and dismantled at different locations (e.g. fairground rides, tents, etc.).
Temporary structures require a construction licence with an inspection log. An application must be submitted to the licensing office for the initial issue of the licence.
The construction licence and the inspection logbook are issued by the licensing office of the Giessen Regional Council.

  • What deadlines do I have to observe?

Before they are erected and put into use for the first time, temporary structures require a so-called execution permit, which is issued by the building supervisory authority. The permit is valid for between 1 and 5 years, depending on the type of installation and design, and can be extended in each case by the period of validity of the implementation permit. Implementation permits from other federal states are also valid in the state of Hesse.

After receipt of the complete documents.

    Application deadline: 6-8 weeks

  • Legal basis

  • What else should I know?

Please note that the required documents vary depending on the type of temporary construction. In principle, all components must be certified as construction products. Alternatively, the manufacturer's certification can be verified in accordance with the design standard. If, for example, tarpaulins are used, these must be certified as flame-retardant in accordance with DIN 4102. The construction must be verified by a static calculation and tested by a recognised test centre.

The test centre checks the structural calculation on the one hand and the system on site on the other.
