Realschule

  • Performance specification

The Realschule imparts a general education to its pupils and enables them to set priorities according to their performance and inclinations. The lessons in the Realschule build on the content and learning techniques acquired in the primary school. The methods are age-appropriate and lead pupils to learn independently. The course of education leads to the Realschule certificate.

The Realschule not only teaches subject knowledge and skills, but also attitudes and behaviour that facilitate the learning and working process. With the transition to grade 7, a cross-curricular focus is placed on career orientation; company visits and internships provide an overview of the requirements of the professional and working world.

The pupils of the Realschule take part in a final examination in grade 10. This consists of two parts: the central final papers in German and mathematics and in the first foreign language, as well as a presentation based on a term paper or an oral examination.

The Realschulabschluss (intermediate school leaving certificate) offers entry into dual training and, depending on performance, also entitles the holder to transfer to secondary schools.
