Infections with EHEC bacteria

  • Performance specification

Infections with EHEC (enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli bacteria) have so far occurred sporadically and in smaller outbreaks in Hesse. There are many different types of the EHEC pathogen - not all of them are dangerous for humans. This also means that not every detection of EHEC must lead to special measures by the health authorities. However, with specific EHEC pathogens, infection can lead to dangerous complications such as kidney failure, mostly in young children.
