The district was a model region for accessibility funded by the state of Hesse and has continued to set itself the goal of promoting inclusion and participation beyond the funding period. The position of municipal commissioner for the disabled has also been stabilised and closely linked to the in-depth focus on accessibility. The work of the commissioners for the disabled is an important building block for a more inclusive society in which all people can participate in social life as equally and self-determinedly as possible. The focus of the work is on the well-being and development opportunities of disabled people and people at risk of disability of all ages. All interested parties are cordially invited to participate in the further development of the topic of inclusion and accessibility in the district.

The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg has appointed a full-time Municipal Disability Officer to strengthen the representation of the interests of people with disabilities.
