Food control, animal welfare and veterinary services

The tasks of the Food Monitoring, Animal Welfare and Veterinary Service serve the protection of humans and animals - and consist of monitoring the legal requirements in the areas of food, meat hygiene, animal welfare and animal disease law.

The objectives are to protect the consumer against deception and possible hazards from foodstuffs, consumer goods, cosmetics and tobacco products, but also to protect animals by inspecting animal husbandry, transport or slaughterhouses, as well as appropriate monitoring and measures to combat animal diseases.

To mitigate the spread of disease in wildlife, the county takes care of preventive and sustainable animal disease control.
