Food control, animal welfare and veterinary affairs

The tasks of the Food Monitoring, Animal Welfare and Veterinary Service serve to protect humans and animals - and consist of monitoring the legal requirements in the areas of food, meat hygiene, animal welfare and animal disease law.

The objectives are the protection of the consumer against deception and possible hazards from food, consumer goods, cosmetics and tobacco products, but also the protection of animals by inspecting animal husbandry, transport or slaughterhouses, as well as appropriate monitoring and measures to combat animal diseases.
