Corona incidence in Waldeck-Frankenberg increased over 35

Since last weekend, the 7-day incidence of new Corona infections in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district has been above the 35 value, according to which stricter rules are envisaged by the escalation concept of the state of Hesse. The stricter rules are to be issued by the responsible districts by means of a general decree. As Karl-Friedrich Frese, First District Commissioner and Head of the Health Department, explains, the district is refraining from issuing such a general decree for the time being. The development of the numbers will be closely monitored until the end of the 34th calendar week and the situation will be reassessed at the beginning of the 35th calendar week at the latest.

"We do not want any restrictions for all those who behave according to the rules and who are vaccinated," emphasised the First District Commissioner. The issuing of a general decree would, for example, only allow visits to indoor restaurants or the use of body-related services such as visits to the hairdresser or chiropody with negative proof. This means that, for example, in order to visit a restaurant in rainy weather, in the closed dining rooms, one would have to present proof of vaccination, proof of convalescence or a daily Corona negative test.

The district based its decision, Frese continued, not only on the possibility under the escalation concept to use other factors besides incidence for the overall consideration of the situation. These included, among other things, the vaccination rate or the proportion of new virus variants in the positive tests, but above all the number of patients treated in the clinics because of a Corona infection, which was very low in Waldeck-Frankenberg. The decision against a general decree was also influenced by the fact that the Federal Minister of Health, Jens Spahn, no longer sees the incidence as the decisive benchmark for measures to be taken. "A realisation that we have pointed out many times and that has now finally been confirmed at the federal level," said Frese, the head of the health department, expressing his satisfaction.

Thus, the regulations of the Hessian Coronavirus Protection Ordinance currently apply in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg.
