Counselling centres in the district receive subsidies

The counselling centres make an important contribution to the social network in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district. Both the psychosocial contact and counselling centres as well as the addiction and drug counselling centre catch people who have lost their footing in life due to unfavourable circumstances. First District Councillor and Head of Health Karl-Friedrich Frese now honoured the valuable work of the counselling centres with financial contributions: 78,000 euros for the psychosocial contact and counselling centres and 180,000 euros for the addiction and drug counselling centre.

There is a psychosocial contact and counselling centre at four locations in the district, each of which is maintained by the Kreisverband der Treffpunkte e. V. (district association of meeting points). They are located in the towns of Bad Arolsen, Bad Wildungen, Frankenberg (Eder) and Korbach and are responsible for the whole of Waldeck-Frankenberg. Of the funding from the district, 10,000 euros are used to co-finance the "Treffpunkt Kids" project. This special offer is aimed at children whose mother or father are psychologically stressed. At the "Treffpunkt Kids" they find a sympathetic ear and support, are thus given a sense of security and receive age-appropriate answers to their questions.

The addiction and drug counselling centre of the Diakonisches Werk/ Kirchenkreisamt is the place to go for people who have problems dealing with alcohol, illegal drugs, medication, gambling or computer and internet use. Their relatives also find help there. In addition to support, the counselling centre refers its clients to appropriate support services, including outpatient or inpatient treatment. The work of the counselling centre is complemented by the specialist centre for addiction prevention; another component of the holistic concept is outpatient assisted living.

First District Councillor Frese used the presentation of the funds to thank the representatives of the counselling centres for their valuable work. Through their work in the counselling centres, countless people have already been supported to the point where they can master their lives again or are at least on the way to doing so. The district therefore also wants to contribute to maintaining the counselling centres in the coming years through its donations.
