District Administrator hands over funding decisions: 2.4 million euros for Upper Eder Valley

The towns of Battenberg (Eder) and Hatzfeld (Eder) received an early Christmas present: District Administrator Dr. Reinhard Kubat presented the mayors of Battenberg and Hatzfeld (Eder) with a grant of 1.2 million euros under the "Village Development" programme of the State of Hesse. In Battenberg, this will support the construction of a medical care centre (MVZ), and in Hatzfeld-Reddighausen, the festival hall will be renovated and made fit for the future. Both projects contribute to keeping the region attractive for residents as well as for newcomers.

District Administrator Dr Kubat pointed out that he had already concretised the first ideas for improving medical care in the district more than 10 years ago. The establishment of the MVZ in Battenberg now brings these ideas to fruition. The health centre will combine general medical and dental care, an office for the community caretaker, a practice for physiotherapy and occupational therapy as well as speech therapy, a podiatry practice and a medical supply store. With total gross costs of around 4.7 million euros, the maximum subsidy of 1.2 million euros applies.

This also applies to the festival hall in Reddighausen, which is to be optimised into a multifunctional facility with various uses in the areas of culture, recreational sports and youth work. In the course of an initial building survey, it became apparent that the envisaged measures could not be implemented in the existing structure. Therefore, a planning concept was developed in the course of the feasibility study "Reddighausen Public Facilities". It meets the requirements for energy saving, fire protection and building safety and conforms to the objectives of the development concept of the town of Hatzfeld. The total costs here amount to 2.1 million euros.

District Administrator Dr Kubat: "Hardly ever before have funding decisions with such a large volume been handed over in our district." The two mayors pointed to the excellent cooperation with the district administration, which had made many things possible that had previously been considered hardly feasible. Dr Jürgen Römer, head of the village and regional development department, emphasised that the special role assigned to this area during the term of office of District Administrator Dr Kubat had put village and regional development in a top position, both financially and professionally, both statewide and nationally.
