Self-help contact point offers forest walk on 14 July

The Self-Help Contact Point of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district has also been severely affected by the contact restrictions and other cuts caused by the Corona pandemic in recent months. It has only been able to offer its services, such as meetings and further training for people interested in self-help, to a limited extent and digitally. Yet it is precisely in the self-help groups that personal exchange, face to face, is important. Therefore, the staff of the self-help contact point are pleased that falling incidences now make it possible to meet and exchange ideas in person again.

As the first such meeting, the Self-Help Contact Point will organise a walk in the forest on Wednesday, 14 July 2021, observing the known safety and hygiene rules. The aim is to network people from the self-help sector, to make new contacts and to inform interested people about the possibilities and opportunities of self-help work.

During the tour through the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, there will be several stops where information about self-help work in connection with nature therapy will be provided. "We would also like to report on the positive effects of exercise for self-help during the walk," say Heike Eschler and Kristin Schmidt-Momberg from the self-help contact point. All interested parties are cordially invited to the forest walk. The therapy dog of Heike Eschler, who works as a nature therapist, will also join the leisurely walk. New impulses for the work of the self-help groups can then be taken away from what has been learned.

The route for the slow walk is about 3.5 kilometres and is easily manageable in about two and a half hours with the stops in between. The walk is suitable for all walkers. Participants are only asked to wear sturdy shoes and clothing suitable for the weather, and to carry mouth and nose protection. Unfortunately, anyone who feels ill must refrain from participating due to the pandemic rules in force. Everyone who participates will receive a seat cushion or scarf and a rucksack bag with the logo of the self-help centre.

The tour starts on Wednesday, 14 July 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the "Trappenhardt" hikers' car park near Basdorf. The exact location description will be sent to the participants - the number of participants is limited to 12 persons - with the registration confirmation. Interested persons are asked to register by 12 July by phone 05631 954-888 or by e-mail shk@lkwafkb.de. Another date for the forest walk is currently being planned for an afternoon; it will also take place shortly.
