DEXT offices invite to online lecture on 28 April

The five North Hessian centres for democracy promotion and cross-phenomena extremism prevention, DEXT for short, invite you to a free online lecture on "Conspiracy theories and radicalisation dynamics - How the authoritarian and irrational endanger social cohesion and democracy" on Thursday, 28 April from 6 to 8 pm.

With Dr. Alexander Yendell from the Research Institute for Social Cohesion and the Centre of Excellence for Research on Right-Wing Extremism and Democracy at the University of Leipzig, an experienced speaker could once again be won for the continuation of the series "Democracy Talks North Hesse". Conspiracy ideologies, authoritarianism and violence can corrode democratic culture. But what is the extent of anti-democratic, conspiracy ideological and right-wing authoritarian attitudes in Germany and other European countries? Dr Yendell will show this by analysing various representative population surveys. The causes of anti-democratic attitudes up to radicalisation, use of violence and advocacy of war will also be addressed. By means of empirical analysis, it can be shown that unfavourable educational conditions and radicalisation dynamics as well as support for violence and the use of violence are indeed mutually dependent.

After the presentation, there will be enough time to discuss different prevention measures and their likelihood of success based on the results. The event will take place via the online platform BigBlueButton. A link will be sent out for this, downloading special software is not necessary. Registrations will be accepted until 27 April by e-mail dext@lkwafkb.de or by phone 05631 954-561.
