Nature Conservation Award of the District: Apply now until 31 May

District Administrator and Head of Nature Conservation Jürgen van der Horst announces that the District of Waldeck-Frankenberg intends to award a prize again this year for many years of voluntary service in the field of nature conservation and landscape management. There will also be a special prize for young people. The prize can be awarded to individuals, groups of persons, organisations or associations who have shown special commitment in the field of nature conservation or landscape management outside of their official activities and have rendered outstanding services through exemplary behaviour.

District Administrator van der Horst explains: "In previous years, it was mainly individuals or associations of individuals who received the Nature Conservation Award." In 2020, for example, the special prize for young people went to 22-year-old Ayham Jarrah. He had distinguished himself through his special commitment to species and biotope protection with the nature conservation youth. The main prize of the year 2020 was divided. On the one hand, it went to Frank Seumer, who was honoured above all for his many years of commitment to nature education and environmental education of children and young people at the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU), and on the other hand to Norbert Panek, in particular for his commitment as a German forest conservationist with a focus on beech forests.

"We ask the citizens of the district to submit corresponding proposals with a detailed description of the respective meritorious work in the field of nature conservation and landscape management to the district's environmental service at the address Auf Lülingskreuz 60 in 34497 Korbach," the district administrator calls for participation. Proposals can be submitted until 31 May 2022 . The contact person at the Environmental Department is Mr Figge-Böttger, who can also be reached by telephone on 05631 954-448 or by e-mail at naturschutz@lkwafkb.de and can provide further information, for example on previous award winners.
