EWF Managing Director released with immediate effect

In response to his activities as an election observer of the Russian sham referendums in Ukraine, which were contrary to international law, the supervisory boards of Energie Waldeck-Frankenberg and Verbands-Energie-Werk Gesellschaft für Erneuerbare Energien as well as the EWF association board have released EWF Managing Director Stefan Schaller from his duties with immediate effect. This was decided unanimously in a special meeting of the boards on Monday morning.

Previously, on Saturday, the Council of Elders and the District Committee of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district had already spoken out in favour by a majority - thus taking an unequivocal political position. "The behaviour of the managing director clearly violates the world view, the moral values and the philosophy of the company, which resolutely rejects violations of international law and any form of violence," emphasises the chairman of the supervisory board of the district-owned energy company, District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst, on behalf of all members of the corresponding bodies.

The supervisory and executive boards have therefore spoken out very clearly in favour of the immediate release of the managing director - and at the same time clearly distanced themselves from Russia's actions in Ukraine, which are contrary to international law. This should not only send a clear signal, but also avert damage to the company, which as a domestic energy supplier in Waldeck-Frankenberg supplies around 90,000 households. Through the immediate release, the managing director has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

The boards of EWF and VEW will consult on the dismissal in the near future. This is a formal procedure that must be followed. In perspective, a decision will then be made about the future in the management of the energy supplier.
