New building of the Volkmarser day care centre funded with another 1.1 million euros
Karl-Friedrich Frese, first district councillor and head of the youth department, visited the Kugelsburg town of Volkmarsen with a weighty piece of paper in his luggage - a funding decision for about 1.098 million euros. When he handed over the notification to Mayor Hendrik Vahle directly in the shell of the kindergarten, the youth department head was able to see for himself that the funding was well invested.
"We are investing around 3.7 million euros directly in our future and that of our children," Mayor Vahle emphasised. In the new replacement building for the Protestant day-care centre "Feuerrotes Spielmobil", which had become necessary due to the age of the previous day-care centre and an increased need for day-care places, five groups with up to 99 children will find a new home in an ultra-modern building. True to the insights of the reform pedagogue Maria Montessori, the environment is adapted to the child, not the other way around. Thus, the architecture of the new day care centre is the built version of a simple line drawing, the image of a house seen through children's eyes, with which the young users of the building can immediately identify.
The basis for the funding is the state investment programme "Childcare" 2021 - 2023; these funds are specifically used "to expand and maintain a needs-based infrastructure in the area of education, care and upbringing of children up to the age of school entry in day care facilities". The project was also subsidised by the district to the tune of around 700,000 euros: 200,000 euros in 2021, 275,265 euros in 2022 and 222,835 euros this year. The completion of the new day care centre is planned for the end of 2023.
"This funding is the last large-scale project in the district to be subsidised within the framework of the state investment programme for child care for the years 2021 - 2023," the First District Commissioner pointed out. Such a high amount of funding is no longer an everyday occurrence in this day and age. "With this, I have now also kept my promise that the city of Volkmarsen will receive the largest subsidy for its childcare that is at most possible for the district within the framework of the investment programme," Frese concluded.
