Spontaneous rescheduling: Early Help tour bus braved the storm

Early help supports expectant parents and families with babies and toddlers. In order to reach them even better in the countryside, the early help centres have also been on the road in recent years. From 22 June, they were supposed to stop in Allendorf, Gemünden and Sachsenhausen. The storm threw a spanner in the works. Therefore, they spontaneously changed their plans and stopped at short notice in Battenfeld and at the Edersee Wildlife Park.

On these days, minibuses of the National Centre for Early Help of the Federal Centre for Health Education were on site with lots of games, fun and information. With the project "Frühe Hilfen sind da!" (Early Help is here!), the NZFH, together with the participating Länder and municipalities, wants to make early help in rural areas better known. The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is a cooperation partner.

"When the storm took us by surprise, we came up with an alternative solution for the stops of our tour bus at very short notice," reports Bettina Götz from the district's youth department. "We are grateful to the Rewe supermarket in Battenfeld and the wild animal park at Lake Edersee that we were able to spontaneously move there and present our programme. This was varied: there were games and handicrafts for the children. Adults were able to talk to professionals or other parents, exchange ideas or get advice. The professionals from the district's Early Intervention Network informed interested parties about the local Early Intervention services. These include, for example, the parent cafés, support options through health professionals, the offer of family sponsorships and early support.

Background
Together with early prevention specialists, the National Centre for Early Prevention has developed the nationwide model project for rural areas: From August 2022 to the end of 2023, minibuses will travel to rural regions in the model federal state and four other federal states as mobile services. The mobile early prevention project is financed with funds from the Federal Foundation for Early Prevention, including the programme "Catching up with Corona".
