Architecture Day: District offers guided tours of the new building

Under the motto "Planning, Building, Living - Architecture Transforms", the Architecture Day of the Chamber of Architects and Town Planners of Hesse will take place throughout the state on the last weekend in June. A committee has selected 100 projects throughout Hesse that will open their doors to an interested public on this day. The district's new building on the Südring in Korbach was also selected. The building can be visited on Saturday, 24 June.

New building opensits doors - four guided tours
The new building of the administrative office at Südring 3 will open its doors to visitors between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on that day: In four guided tours - at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. - those interested can take a look at the new premises - and receive information about the conception, planning and construction of the building, which has housed the specialised services of health, youth and social affairs of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district and thus almost 200 workplaces since a few weeks. Registration is not necessary. There may be waiting times between the tours.

Space requirements large
In the past years, the district had to repeatedly rent external office space - both in Frankenberg and in Korbach or Dorfitter - for reasons of space, in order to cover the necessary space requirements for the employees of the district administration. With the move into the new barrier-free building, which was completed in the spring of this year after about two years of construction, the urgently needed balance was created on about 6,000 square metres. The new space programme was developed by the architects and planners from the architectural firm RSE+ Kassel together with the department heads of the building management department and the district organs, organisation, awarding of contracts and public transport department of the district.

During the guided tours on 24 June, citizens can take a look inside the new building and learn many interesting facts about the construction. The meeting point for the guided tours is in the foyer at the main entrance to the administration building. In addition to the administrative building of the district, two other projects in Waldeck-Frankenberg were selected by the jury for the Architecture Day: The new building of the town hall in Korbach and the new building of the youth centre in Bad Arolsen. Background
The importance of the built environment is more evident today than ever before - the Day of Architecture is an opportunity to bring it to the attention of as large an audience as possible and to show that building with trained professionals is the best way to achieve a sustainable positive outcome for the commissioning parties and society. From all the submissions proposed for Architecture Day, the selection committee also chooses projects for nomination for the DAM Prize of the Deutsches Architekturmuseum Frankfurt am Main.
