Apply for a licence to practise as a pharmacist

  • Performance specification

After successfully completing your pharmacy studies, you can apply for a licence to practise as a pharmacist. Once you have been granted your licence to practise as a pharmacist, you are entitled to practise the profession of pharmacist in Germany independently and on your own responsibility.

Graduates of pharmacy studies at Hessian universities apply for the licence to practise medicine at the Hessian State Office for Health and Care (HLfGP). Once the requirements have been met, the HLfGP issues the licence in the form of a certificate.

The Approbationsordnung für Apotheker (Licensing Regulations for Pharmacists) lists in detail which evidence and information must be enclosed with the application.
