Better connect cycle paths: Give feedback online now

Take an e-bike to work, explore the district on two wheels or go shopping by bike: Not only since the Corona pandemic has cycling enjoyed a new popularity - also in Waldeck-Frankenberg. The district therefore wants to improve the network of cycle paths even further. It is also relying on feedback from the population, which anyone can now submit online.

The cycle paths in Waldeck-Frankenberg are to be improved - both for tourism and for everyday use. To this end, the district is currently working on a cycling concept. The current status will be presented at a digital launch event on Friday, 12 March at 4.30 p.m. and all interested parties are cordially invited to attend. Anyone who wants to can take part online - at www.landkreis-waldeck-frankenberg.de/radverkehrskonzept. There you will find all the information about the online launch event. Those interested can dial in online with just a few clicks next Friday.

On short (cycle) routes from A to B

"In order to secure the quality of living and life in the district, sustainable mobility is imperative," says First District Councillor and Head of the Building Department Karl-Friedrich Frese. "We want to adapt the cycle path network to the needs of the people." There is a clear distinction between this project and the project that the district is currently working on under the working title "Border Trail". This project clearly has a tourist focus, whereas the focus of the cycling concept is rather on getting from A to B on short distances by bicycle. "Of course, the routes will still lead through scenic areas. But mobility is in the foreground here.

The aim is to connect already existing cycle paths in the towns and municipalities into a network that is as complete as possible - and thus to sensibly supplement the already existing cycle path concepts of the individual municipalities. "To achieve this, we would also very much like to get the feedback of the people in Waldeck-Frankenberg," says Susanne Paulus, the head of the Building Department, who is in charge of the project at the district. "Since meetings and personal exchange are unfortunately not possible at the moment, we have come up with a digital form of citizen participation."

Citizen feedback warmly welcome

All existing cycle paths are thus summarised on a digital map that can be viewed on the district's website at www-landkreis-waldeck-frankenberg.de. Citizens have the opportunity to mark points on the cycle paths with a mouse click and provide them with individual comments and suggestions for improvement. The ideas of local people are particularly valuable here, as they know their home well. "We would therefore be delighted if not only a particularly large number of interested people take part in the digital launch event on 12 March, but also send us feedback online," Frese continues.
