Eco-model region Waldeck-Frankenberg takes part in podcast series

Eggs, laying hens and brother cocks: This is the title of the first podcast with which the Waldeck-Frankenberg eco-model region is participating in the joint podcast series of all eco-model regions in Hesse. The aim: to show agriculture as it really is and to encourage people to think, talk to each other and think further.

Podcast from Waldeck-Frankenberg
What is a brother cock? What role does it play in the henhouse? And what does such an animal bring to the farmer? These and many other questions are addressed in the first podcast recorded by the district's eco-model region as part of the series. Bernd Hübner from the Demeter Gut Kappel in Bad Arolsen is a guest in this first podcast episode from Waldeck-Frankenberg - and talks about sustainability and organic regionalism, among other things. You can listen to this podcast and all the others on all the usual streaming services and on the website of the Ökomodell-Landes Hessen.

Series shows agriculture as it really is
Eating organically, buying regionally, living sustainably are topics that move people - whether on the consumer or producer side. In the new podcast series under the umbrella of Ökomodell-Land Hessen, people from the fields of agronomy, agriculture, food processing and marketing from the Hessian Ökomodell regions have their say. They talk vividly and entertainingly about personal experiences, approaches on their farms, their perspectives or concrete projects with the Ecomodel regions. In this way, listeners get to know who is behind the Hessian food. With heart and soul, a spirit of innovation and a lot of personal commitment, they take an authentic journey through agriculture.

In addition to the episode as Waldeck-Frankenberg, there are already two others that you can currently stream - on the topics of "Diversity in the field!" and "Organic costs more...but is not more expensive!". Another podcast from Waldeck-Frankenberg will be recorded at the end of April, as announced by the coordinator of the Waldeck-Frankenberg eco-model region Andreas Althoff - and will deal with the topic "Old livestock breeds, why are you worth preserving?". Further episodes are being planned. Requests for topics for further podcasts are warmly welcomed and can be sent by e-mail to OEML-Podcast@gutes-aus-hessen.de.

Background: Ecomodel regions
Hessen has been an Ecomodel Land since 2021. As an "umbrella brand", the Ecomodel Land Hessen connects the 13 Ecomodel regions, which form a comprehensive network across the whole of Hessen and integrate all districts. The eco-model regions are a component of the Hessian Eco Action Plan and are funded by the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.

Their task is to develop projects and measures that increase the share of organically and regionally produced food. This is intended to meet the growing demand for organically produced food more from local agriculture and to raise consumer awareness of regional cycles and organically produced food. The eco-model regions are also contact points for agriculture, food production, processing and trade. By networking these actors, regional marketing is to be strengthened and domestic value chains established.
