Sachsenhausen primary school takes part in "Architecture Day

The "Day of Architecture" always takes place nationwide on the last weekend in June. On this Saturday and Sunday - in 2022 it will be 25 and 26 June - interested people have the opportunity to experience architecture on site. Projects from a wide variety of fields can be visited. The Sachsenhausen primary school at its new location in the "Schulzentrum an der Warte" will also open its doors to visitors and cordially invites them to take a tour. On Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., employees of the architectural firm Kleine + Potthoff from Korbach will be available as expert contacts at the school. They will offer guided tours on the hour, answer questions and provide information about the school building. It took a good two years for the new building of the Sachsenhausen primary school to be erected in the immediate vicinity of the central school and to be handed over for its intended purpose in late summer 2021. In the two-storey building, the classrooms are on the upper floor, while the ground floor houses the all-day area, the administration and the refectory. A special eye-catcher is a group of trees in the inner courtyard of the primary school - the trees were already present at this location and have been integrated into the new building, so the school has virtually been built around them. The entire school has underfloor heating throughout, the energy for which is supplied by an air-source heat pump that is supported by a condensing boiler during peak loads. In addition, a photovoltaic system on the roof converts light energy from the solar cells into electrical energy. Due to road closures in connection with the Edersee Triathlon, access to the "Schulzentrum an der Warte" will only be possible via Korbacher Straße on Saturday, 25 June. On Sunday, 26 June, the route will be via Freienhagener Straße and Wildunger Straße from Bad Wildungen or Freienhagen due to a partial road closure (Korbacher Straße to the Nieder-Werbe junction) for the Sachsenhausen open-air shooting. A direct approach is then possible, also from the direction of Nieder-Werbe, via Niederwerber Straße and Gartenstraße to Werbaer Straße. Coming from the direction of Ober-Werbe, the primary school should also be accessible; any road closure signs issued by the road traffic authorities only affect the village thoroughfare.

The city of Waldeck asks that the area of the middle school and not Gartenstraße and Werbaer Straße be used for parking.

Background:
"Architecture Day" was first held in 1995. Together with Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Thuringia, Hesse was a pioneer in the conception and implementation of this event, which was eventually adopted nationwide. Architects, interior designers, landscape architects and urban planners present an extensive programme and thus convey examples of good everyday architecture. Every year, experts select the buildings and objects to be shown and put together a balanced programme entirely in the spirit of the sophisticated built environment. In recent years, around 10,000 visitors and more have taken advantage of this offer throughout Hessen. The Day of Architecture is organised by the AKH and realised together with architects, planners and developers.

Note: Visitors are requested to please park on/near the school grounds and not in Werbaer Straße and Gartenstraße.
