State awards Hessian Order of Merit to Karl-Friedrich Frese

The Hessian Minister of the Interior, Peter Beuth, honoured Karl-Friedrich Frese from Allendorf for his communal political services and presented him with the Hessian Order of Merit, which had been awarded to him by the Hessian Prime Minister. He received the award for his many years of voluntary commitment in local politics and in the social sector.

"With his outstanding commitment over four decades, Karl-Friedrich Frese has been a role model for the citizens of Allendorf. As mayor and in many other functions, he has rendered many services to the former municipality of Bromskirchen, which has since merged into the municipality of Allendorf. He has decisively promoted the municipality merger and thus made an extremely important contribution to the future and efficiency of the municipality. By assuming responsibility for his municipality and many other local institutions, he is a worthy recipient of the Hessian Order of Merit," said Minister of the Interior Peter Beuth.

In 1981, at the young age of 21, Karl-Friedrich Frese became an alderman of his then home municipality of Twistetal and remained there until 1992. From 1993 to 2016, he was mayor of the municipality of Bromskirchen. Since September 2017, he has been First District Councillor of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district and was recently confirmed in office for the next six years.

"Karl-Friedrich Frese has shown outstanding voluntary commitment in many areas and has been involved in local self-government for decades. Not least, he played a decisive role in the integration of the municipality of Bromskirchen into the municipality of Allendorf (Eder) in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district. As First District Councillor of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district, he is particularly committed to the interests of Hesse's largest district - and thus makes an excellent contribution to society and the people here in the region," says District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst.

His voluntary work as mayor of Bromskirchen came about in the course of the merger of the municipalities of Bromskirchen and Allendorf/Eder into the municipality of Allendorf (Eder), initiated by Karl-Friedrich Frese and the mayor of the neighbouring municipality of Allendorf/Eder, Claus Junghenn. It is the first municipality merger in Waldeck-Frankenberg since the territorial reform in the 1970s, the third voluntary municipality merger in Hesse and the first in the form of affiliation.

But the 63-year-old is also involved in Allendorf beyond local politics. More than three years ago, he took over the chairmanship of the Frankenberg District Association of the German Red Cross, of which he had already been a member of the board for many years. Karl-Friedrich Frese has been a member of the board of directors of the local savings bank since 1993, and his strong ties to Bromskirchen are also demonstrated by his involvement in the local court, which he has chaired since 2005.
