Three groups awarded the cultural prize of the district

Doubling of the prize money and a longer award rhythm: The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg has changed its guidelines for awarding prizes to honour special commitment. Starting this year, individuals or groups can only enjoy the prize money of up to 5,000 euros in the main category and up to 1,000 euros in the youth category every four years. This highlights the special nature of the award and emphasises its high value even more, as District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst explains.

As the first award winners according to the new guidelines, the district administrator now names three associations or groups that have rendered outstanding services in the field of culture. The 2023 District Culture Prize goes to the "Friends of Haina Monastery" association. The District Youth Culture Prize goes in equal parts to the youth group of the Rhena Music Association and the "Strong Together" musical group of the Eder Protestant Church District. A total of 6,000 euros in prize money will be awarded. "We have a diverse cultural life in our district, which is also of high quality," said the district administrator. The awarding of the cultural prize is intended as an active promotion of culture - in addition to the district subsidies for projects in the cultural field - to honour the commitment, in some cases over decades or actively attracting new talent. The award ceremony will take place in September in the Haina Monastery Church.
