District invites to Girls Day on 27 April

Technology is a man's job? Not so in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg! Girls can experience this live at this year's nationwide Girls Day at the district administration. The Women's Office cordially invites all interested women to participate this year as well. Registrations are now open.

What awaits the schoolgirls? An exciting rally across the different areas of responsibility of the district administration, during which the girls will learn how digitalisation and good process management help to make processes even smoother - and thus contribute to better service for citizens. Whether it's geodata, online appointment booking, the virtual citizens' office, online feedback or robot-supported process optimisation: here, the participants get to know all digital facets of the administration. Not only the colleagues from the district's women's office are taking part. The project manager for digitalisation, Nastasia Sluzalek, and process manager Oliver Merhof will also accompany the event. The concept was developed by the Women's Office in cooperation with the departments Digital Administration and District Bodies, Organisation, Awarding of Contracts and Public Transport.

"With the motto of this year's Girls Day, we have deliberately chosen an offer in the field of digital administration," say District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst and First District Commissioner Karl-Friedrich Frese. "On the one hand, because this area plays a key role in the modernisation of the administration and is becoming increasingly important. On the other hand, because girls and young women are often underrepresented in these areas, even though they are better educated than the average.

Statistically, girls still mainly take up professions in female-dominated sectors. For example, the top 10 training occupations for women still include professions such as retail saleswoman, medical assistant or saleswoman. Technical or scientific professions appear little or not at all. "With the rally across the county hall, the county wants to inspire the schoolgirls with strong female role models to broaden their view of their own career path - and make it clear that all doors are open to them," says the deputy women's representative of the county Miriam Drüppel and cordially invites all girls to participate in Girls Day at the county administration.

Registrations are now being accepted - by telephone on 05631 - 954 316 or by e-mail to miriam.drueppel@lkwafkb.de. The offer is barrier-free. If you need assistance, you are welcome to register with the Women's Office in advance so that the visit can be well planned together.
