After system failure: district supports Hochsauerlandkreis

However, the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg would like to point out once again that citizens from the HSK do not submit any documents to the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg and therefore no appointments and/or consultations are necessary here. Applications for applicants from the HSK will continue to be processed by the HSK; the applications will only be processed by HSK employees in Waldeck-Frankenberg.

For District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst, the support is a matter of course: "A system failure like this can affect anyone. It was therefore no question for us to provide rapid and uncomplicated assistance within the scope of our possibilities."

From next week, the employees of the vehicle registration offices and driving licence offices will be working in neighbouring districts. "We are very grateful to the districts of Paderborn and Waldeck-Frankenberg for their administrative assistance and uncomplicated support and are delighted to be able to resume operations,' says District Administrator Dr Karl Schneider, visibly relieved at the unbureaucratic solutions that have been found. In Paderborn, eight workstations are available for vehicle registration and three for driving licences, in Korbach four for vehicle registration.

"Citizens and dealers do not have to make their own way to Paderborn and Korbach, but can hand in their documents at the vehicle registration offices and driving licence offices in the Arnsberg, Brilon and Meschede district halls as before and pick them up there a few working days later," says press spokesman Martin Reuther, roughly describing the plans. "We ask for your patience for a few more days until the final details have been clarified," continues Reuther, "we will announce the exact start date and procedures at the end of this week." Workstations are currently being set up and HSK employees are already receiving on-site training on the local software.

A few tips in advance: once the process is back at one of the registration centres in the HSK, customers will be informed immediately and can pick up the documents again and pay the fee at the automatic pay station. "So please provide a telephone number and, if possible, an e-mail address on a specially created leaflet, which will be posted on the emergency website www.hochsauerlandkreis.org in good time, along with the documents," advises Reuther.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to assign the HSK licence plate number during the licence plate allocation process, as there is no access to the corresponding data due to the IT failure. The PB or KB licence plates are therefore assigned. When normal processing in the HSK resumes, it will be possible to re-label to HSK, but this is not mandatory. "I would like to offer this change of registration free of charge and will propose this to the political committees," says District Administrator Dr Schneider. It is also not possible to reserve a special licence plate in the two neighbouring districts.

Customers can initially come to the driving licence offices in the Hochsauerland district during the usual opening hours, where they will then receive individual advice on how to proceed. The HSK employees in Paderborn will then take care of the necessary entries. "I would ask all customers from the Hochsauerland district not to contact the districts of Paderborn and Waldeck-Frankenberg directly, as they are responsible for their citizens and have already been considerably restricted in their work by calls and emails from the HSK in recent days," says press spokesman Reuther, hoping for continued good cooperation with the neighbouring districts, who are always on hand to help with any questions.
