The election for the 21st Hessian Landtag took place on 8 October 2023. The Hessian State Parliament is the representative body of the people of the Federal State of Hesse; as the legislature, it passes the state laws and elects and controls the state government. The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is divided into constituencies 5 and 6: The constituency 5 - Waldeck-Frankenberg I includes: Bad Arolsen, Diemelsee, Diemelstadt, Edertal, Korbach, Lichtenfels, Twistetal, Volkmarsen, Waldeck, Willingen (Upland) and Naumburg (district of Kassel). The constituency 6 - Waldeck-Frankenberg II includes: Allendorf (Eder), Bad Wildungen, Battenberg (Eder), Burgwald, Frankenau, Frankenberg (Eder), Gemünden (Wohra), Haina (Kloster), Hatzfeld (Eder), Rosenthal, Vöhl and Fritzlar (Schwalm-Eder district).
