Democracy Talks: Online lecture on civil courage

The Fachstelle für Demokratieförderung und phänomenübergreifende Extremismusprävention (DEXT) invites you to the last digital "Democracy Talk North Hesse" this year on 20 December 2022. The topic of the online lecture from 6 - 7:30 p.m. is civil courage, with the addition of "Older people and right-wing extremism". Registrations are possible until 19 December 2022.

Senior citizens play a central role in democratic coexistence. People over 60 years of age are overrepresented in the democratic parties, and in addition, older people have voted significantly more democratically in the state elections of the past years, for example. Accordingly, the lecture on 20 December aims to sensitise and strengthen this group of people in dealing with right-wing extremism.

The goals and strategies of right-wing extremist actors are examined in the online lecture and a look is taken at their networks. To better assess the threat of right-wing extremism, regional and national case studies will be presented and put into context, and strategies for dealing with right-wing extremism will be discussed. The lecture will be given by Ms Una Titz, education officer in the de:hate project of the Amadeu Antonio Foundation. The foundation conducts qualitative and quantitative monitoring, i.e. the systematic and continuous online recording of right-wing extremist and right-wing populist phenomena.

The free online event takes place via the WEBEX platform. A link will be sent shortly before the event; it is not necessary to download any special software. Registrations will be accepted until 19 December 2022 by the DEXT office in Kassel at praeventionsrat@kassel.de or by phone 0561 787-7000. Further questions about this Democracy Talk North Hesse will also be answered there.
