The district is looking for juvenile jurors: Application until 31 May

The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is looking for juvenile jurors who would like to serve in an honorary capacity from next year until 2028 at the local courts of Korbach, Frankenberg and Fritzlar and the district courts in Kassel and Marburg. Applications will be accepted until 31 May.

As volunteers, juvenile jurors participate in hearings and are involved in reaching a verdict - especially in hearings against juveniles between the ages of 14 and 21. Lay jurors make an important contribution to society, strengthen democracy and participate in the administration of justice. They are part of the judicial process - from the indictment to the verdict. At the end of the trial, they judge the guilt or innocence of the accused together with the professional judge.

We are looking for people who are between 25 and 69 years old on the cut-off date of 1 January 2024, have German citizenship, sufficient knowledge of the German language, reside in one of the municipalities of the respective district court district and can imagine taking on this responsible task. Social competence, life experience and knowledge of human nature are desirable, as is experience in dealing with young people or in youth education. It does not matter whether these qualities have been acquired professionally, voluntarily or privately. Previous legal knowledge is not required.

Those interested in the office can send their application to the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg (Fachdienst Jugend, Südring 2, 34497 Korbach) by 31 May 2023. The application form and further information are also available online at www.schoeffenwahl2023.de.
