30,000 euros for voluntary swimming pool associations

For seven years now, the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg has supported the voluntary swimming pool associations of the district with a grant of 30,000 euros from the annual budget. This year too, District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst handed over the notifications in person - this time at the Walmebad Mengeringhausen.

Since 2016, the sports and youth work department of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district has provided 30,000 euros annually to support the voluntary swimming pool clubs in the district. Each of the eight clubs thus receives annual funding of 3,750 euros from the district. These subsidies can be used to cover ongoing maintenance costs, upkeep and repair work on the outdoor pool facilities. "This financial support is intended to help the voluntary swimming pool clubs and contribute to the maintenance of the clubs," explained Jürgen van der Horst.

Maintaining the swimming pools in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district is of enormous importance. Fewer and fewer children can swim. In order to counteract this development, the sports and youth work department in cooperation with the Waldeck-Frankenberg sports district repeatedly offers swimming courses for children and adults. "To ensure that our citizens have the opportunity to train and improve their swimming skills on their doorstep, we will continue to support the voluntary outdoor swimming pool clubs in the district and thus contribute to the maintenance of the swimming pools," the district administrator continued.

Further information on swimming courses and funding opportunities in the area of sport can be found on the website of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district at www.landkreis-waldeck-frankenberg.de.
