Equipment of the schools

For the improvement of digital networking, WLAN at schools and the purchase of equipment, the Waldeck-Frankenberg district will invest around 10.4 million euros in the coming years. All measures are to be implemented by mid-2025. In order to invest the federal, state and own funds, the district has worked with the schools and in consultation with the State Education Authority to determine the needs at the school locations in Waldeck-Frankenberg and has drawn up a plan for concrete implementation.

  • Wiring of 1,766 classrooms
  • Conversion of 762 media columns - i.e. cable, power and data distributors - to uniform standard
  • New media columns in 599 rooms
  • Equipping 1,128 rooms with presentation technology
  • Relocation of 186 panels
  • Conversion of 60 server rooms

Timetable: Whose turn is it and when?

In the implementation planning, which the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg has developed together with the schools and the State Education Authority, all measures are listed that will be implemented at the individual schools in the coming years. Since not all the work can be done at the same time, there is a priority list. Smaller measures that can be completed quickly should be realised as soon as possible. Larger projects to improve the digital infrastructure should be done as soon as possible - but by summer 2025 at the latest. Furthermore, the implementation of the schedule is also dependent on the availability of craftsmen and service providers.

How does the process work in the school?

In order to determine the equipment needs at the schools, employees of the IT and Digital Administration and Building Management departments meet with representatives from the school and the caretakers for a joint appointment on site, inspect each room and jointly determine the necessary equipment. The electrical work and the blackboard conversion are then planned, put out to tender, commissioned, implemented and accepted by the district. At the same time, the district orders the appropriate presentation technology, coordinates the delivery and installation and integrates the media into the school network. Finally, the school multipliers are instructed in the use of the equipment.

Throughout the implementation process, the district also relies on the availability of materials, service providers and craftsmen, which is why the process may be delayed from time to time.
