Information event of the eco-model region

The Waldeck-Frankenberg eco-model region invites all interested parties to an information event on the semi-mobile slaughter of cattle. On 27 October 2022 from 7 - 9 p.m., two experts will report on the topic at the Flair Hotel Werbetal, Uferstraße 28 in Waldeck-Nieder-Werbe. Registration for the event is possible until 21 October.

For cattle, the process before slaughter (catching, separating, loading,
transport, the unknown environment and foreign smells) is a particularly high stress. This not only affects animal welfare, it also has a negative impact on meat quality. In order to nevertheless give the animals as stress-free an end as possible, there is the alternative of stunning them in their familiar surroundings. After that, semi-mobile slaughter begins with bleeding on site and subsequent onward transport to the butcher.

But how exactly can all this be implemented in practice and what legal framework conditions must be observed before and after stunning? What form can cooperation between farms and slaughterhouses take? The event on 27 October will address these and other questions. Dr Andrea Fink-Keßler from the Association of Farmers with Artisanal Meat Processing will give a lecture on semi-mobile slaughtering. Afterwards, Dr. Anke Zwolinski from the Food Monitoring, Animal Welfare and Veterinary Service of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district will provide information on the legal framework.

Registrations for the information event are accepted by the Waldeck-Frankenberg eco-model region at e-mail andreas.althoff@lkwafkb.de until 21 October 2022. Further questions about the event or the eco-model region will also be answered there. The organiser would be pleased about a lively participation in the offer in Nieder-Werbe.
