District invites you to the Digital Selfcare Day on 18 November

Reduce stress, strengthen well-being and focus on your own health: At the free digital Selfcare Day, which the district is organising on 18 November from 2 p.m. together with the Adult Education Centre, the Federal Employment Agency and the Korbach Job Centre, women are cordially invited to consciously take time for themselves and their health.

Learning relaxation, resilience and stress prevention
"The day offered online by the district's specialist service for women and equal opportunities is intended to be dedicated to self-care and to help reduce stress and strengthen mental health," emphasises the district's women's representative Beate Friedrich. "To this end, the digital meeting provides various offers that give the participants appropriate strategies - among others, a keynote on the topic of work-life-family balance, a short seminar on resilience at work or a small workshop on stress prevention through yoga and meditation," adds her deputy Miriam Drüppel.

Strengthening health care, recognising endometriosis
However, since self-care also means dedicating oneself to one's own health, there will be another lecture on a disease of women that is estimated to affect one in ten women in their lifetime, namely endometriosis. In this chronic disease, in which benign tissue grows on the ovaries, in the abdominal and pelvic cavity, on the intestines or peritoneum, many women suffer symptoms for years before the disease is properly recognised and treated - also because the symptoms are often mistaken for period pains.

Speaker Vanessa Maier, who has already published a podcast on the topic with more than 100 episodes, takes an in-depth look at the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options of endometriosis in her talk. Affected and potentially affected people should get the necessary information, resources and self-confidence to actively advocate for their own health care through the lecture of the health blogger, who reaches over 12,000 people via Instagram.

Afternoon full of varied topics
The day starts at 1.45 pm with a short welcome. From 2 to 3 p.m. the topic will be "Endometriosis: The unknown widespread disease - symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options" about the chronic women's disease. Between 3 and 4 p.m., the topic "Job and family - the challenge of care work" is on the agenda, and from 4 to 5 p.m. there will be a lecture on the topic "Mensch, machs doch: Wer nicht wagt, der nicht gewinnt!". At the end of the event, from 5 to 7 p.m., the topic will be stress prevention with yoga and meditation.

The event was organised by the Women's and Equal Opportunities Department of the district together with the Waldeck-Frankenberg District Adult Education Centre, the Commissioner for Equal Opportunities on the Labour Market of the Korbach Federal Employment Agency and the Commissioner for Equal Opportunities on the Labour Market of the Korbach Job Centre. The technical infrastructure is provided by Büro f. staatsbürgerliche Frauenarbeit e.V.. All interested participants are cordially invited to attend.
