Intercultural Week 2022

Intercultural Week 2022

Since 2020, the Waldeck-Frankenberg district has been in charge of coordinating the Intercultural Week in the district in cooperation with the Network for Tolerance. The host city in 2022 was Bad Wildungen. The Intercultural Week took place here from 25 September to 2 October - and with it 30 events. #offen geht is a reminder and an appeal to everyone to be open to other cultures, other perspectives and other people - especially in today's times, we want to live diversity in harmony.

A big thank you goes to all those involved in making the intercultural week multi-faceted through their participation!

The "Meet the people" event has been running since 2014 - always on Friday evenings. It was created during the time when many people who had to flee their home countries arrived in Bad Wildungen. For example, they played table football or cards, ate together and played music. At the moment, almost exclusively people from Eritrea come, who now feel at home in the Protestant community, hold their own church services there and organise larger celebrations. The Protestant Community has so far granted church asylum to eight people. Therefore, information is gladly given - also about the motivation of the community, the legal aspects and the difficulties for the congregation and especially for those who are accommodated in the church asylum.

Concerts like in your own living room, very close to the audience on ever-changing stages: Egisson is a Leipzig music and text producer. In various line-ups, he opens up insights under his word garment to the audience in a dynamic way. Thea Klar's music creates clarity so that it hurts, puts a finger in the wound and connects. Her lyrics deal with her experiences at borders between people and countries: Enough of trying to heal a stab wound with a plaster. Sometimes it takes an operation. As a double act, the two present music about the happiness and injustice of this world, about the joy of the imperfect and the broken, about the rage over avoidable misery, in short: German pop music with humour and depth.
