Cycling tourism
Performance specification
The areas of responsibility within cycle tourism encompass the planning, development and ongoing optimisation of cycle path networks and cycle tourism routes. This includes the design, installation and maintenance of signage and guidance systems that enable safe and convenient navigation. Another key focus is the production of marketing and information materials to showcase attractive offers for cycle tourists and to support the promotion of destinations to tourists.
Close cooperation with tourism organisations, local authorities, accommodation providers and associations is of great importance in this regard. The planning and organisation of cycling events, other events and training programmes also form part of the role.
The maintenance and further development of digital information and booking platforms, which provide route descriptions, maps, GPS data and booking facilities, are becoming increasingly important. This area of work is complemented by advising guests on route planning, places of interest, accommodation and regional leisure activities. Finally, cycle tourism also encompasses quality management measures, the regular inspection and maintenance of infrastructure, and the development of innovative and sustainable offerings to strengthen cycle tourism in the long term.
In addition, the Eder Cycle Route and Diemel Cycle Route offices are based here.
