    Even with conscientious planning, design and production, defects can occur in vehicles that have already been authorised. For reasons of road safety and environmental compatibility, it is absolutely necessary to rectify these vehicle defects.

    The catalogue of fines provides for various fines and points in the driving aptitude register (previously: central traffic register) if a vehicle with defects is put into service.
