Change vehicle data or owner data

  • Performance specification

    If the owner data or vehicle data of your vehicle changes, you must inform your responsible vehicle registration authority. This applies to

    • Car
    • Lorry
    • Motorbike
    • Buses and coaches
    • Trailer

    Holder details change if you change your name, for example if you get married. If you move house, you must also inform the registration authority of the change of address.

    Vehicle data or technical data, for example, changes with:

    • Change of vehicle class
    • Change in cubic capacity, rated power, fuel type or energy source
    • Increase in the maximum speed determined by the design
    • Reduction of the maximum speed determined by the design if this is relevant to the driving licence or registration
    • Modification of the authorised axle loads, the total mass, the vertical load or the trailer load
    • Increase in vehicle dimensions, except for cars and motorbikes
    • Changing the number of seats or standing places in buses and coaches
    • Changes to exhaust or noise values, insofar as they affect vehicle tax or traffic bans

    Depending on the change, the authorisation authority will provide you with

    • new registration documents and
    • When you change your licence plate number, we will issue new stamp stickers for your vehicle.

    You can visit your licensing authority in person or appoint a representative.
