Nature conservation

  • Performance specification

The aim of nature conservation is to preserve nature and landscape on the basis of their own value and as the basis of human life. Since it is becoming increasingly clear that the loss and destruction of nature and the landscape can also have serious negative consequences for humans, efforts are being made to restore, preserve and ensure the long-term and sustainable usability of the natural balance as well as the careful management of the landscape. Because of their importance in the natural balance, but also because of their endangerment, animal and plant species enjoy special protection.

Who do I need to contact?

Responsible for nature conservation and the implementation of nature conservation law - and thus the first point of contact for citizens - are the lower nature conservation authorities. Their tasks are performed by the district committee in the districts, and by the magistrate in the independent cities and towns with more than 50,000 inhabitants.
