If you want to display animals in a zoological garden or similar institution, you need a permit.

- Request
- Certificate of competence
- police clearance certificate
What are the fees?
The
- General Administrative Costs Regulations and
- the administrative cost regulations for the portfolio of the Ministry for the Environment, Energy, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.
Because of the exact amount, it is recommended to inquire at the responsible veterinary office as well as the responsible regional council.

Who do I need to contact?
Contact the competent veterinary office of the district or city where you wish to carry out the activity.
If the activity is carried out simultaneously at different locations, a separate licence from the veterinary office responsible for the location of the establishment is required for each location.
The veterinary office of the place where the company usually has its registered office or winter quarters or is registered as a business is responsible for those who wish to commercially exhibit animals or make them available for such purposes and carry out this activity at different locations.
In the case of companies without a registered office in Germany, the competent veterinary office for the place where the first activity is carried out.
If you are trading in species-protected animals, you must also contact the species protection department of the regional council in whose area of responsibility your company is located, as there is an obligation to register on the basis of species protection. You must provide proof of origin for the respective animal and, if you want to sell species-protected animals, you also need an EC certificate, which is issued to you by the Species Protection Department of the Regional Council.
