Bulky waste is solid waste which, because of its size or weight, may not be placed in the prescribed collection containers and is therefore collected and transported separately from other household waste.

In Hesse, the municipalities belonging to the districts and the independent cities are responsible for the collection of bulky waste. These have arranged the collection of bulky waste with the districts for their area, depending on local conditions. This can take the form of fixed collection dates, collection on request or acceptance facilities at central points. Further information can be obtained from the respective municipality or city.
