Extension of a temporary driving licence

  • Performance specification

    The driving licence for categories C, CE, C1 or C1E, D, DE, D1 or D1E shall be issued for a maximum period of five years and may be renewed for five years at the request of the licence holder.

  • Which documents are required?

    Special information for - District of Waldeck-Frankenberg
    • Application form
    • Photo ID (identity card, passport)
    • If a passport is presented, also a certificate of registration from the registration office responsible for the main place of residence.
    • previous driving licence
    • a recent photograph that complies with the provisions of the Passport Ordinance (biometric, size 45 mm x 35 mm, portrait format)
    • Ophthalmological certificate or certificate from an ophthalmologist that the requirements for eyesight are met.
      You can have this certificate issued by your ophthalmologist or by a company and occupational physician. An issued certificate is valid for 2 years.
    • Certificate of physical and mental fitness
      Use the official form provided for this certificate.
      You can have the certificate issued by any doctor. The certificate must not be older than one year at the time of application.
    • In addition, for categories D and D1, if you have reached the age of 50, a performance psychology certificate.

    Note: Depending on the authority, further documents (e.g. certificate of good conduct) may be required.

     

     

  • What are the fees?

    Special information for - District of Waldeck-Frankenberg

    The administrative fee is charged in accordance with the Gebührenordnung für Maßnahmen im Straßenverkehr (GebOSt).
    The amount of the fee depends on numerous different factors.
    Information in individual cases is provided by the locally competent authority.

  • What deadlines do I have to observe?

    The application may be submitted at the earliest six months before the expiry of the previous driving licence.

    Attention: If the application is submitted after the expiry of the previous driving licence, it will no longer be extended but a new driving licence will be issued. The fact that you were already the holder of a corresponding driving licence in the past is then no longer evident from the new driving licence.
