Applying for a transfer block for the vehicle register

  • Performance specification

    Blocks on transmission can be ordered at the request of the person concerned in accordance with Section 41 (2) of the Road Traffic Act (StVG) if the person concerned can credibly show that the transmission of the vehicle and keeper data will impair his or her interests worthy of protection.

    The main purpose of a stop notice is to prevent the provision of information to private individuals. However, a block on transmission does not make it more difficult or even impossible to prosecute road traffic offences.

  • Process flow

    If a block on transmission is ordered, a corresponding note is made in the registers. The duration of the block depends on the individual case.

  • Which documents are required?

    • Proof of identity (identity card, passport)
    • Making the interests worth protecting credible, for example by providing suitable evidence of the existence of a threat

  • What are the fees?

    The amount of the fee shall be based on the time spent by the authorities. It amounts to 12.80 euros per quarter of an hour or part thereof of working time.
