Support programmes

In order to realise the objectives of the Federal Nature Conservation Act, the Hessian Implementation Act for the Federal Nature Conservation Act and the strategies for the conservation of biological diversity and to implement international regulations and requirements, measures for the protection, development, conservation and restoration of nature and landscape can be promoted.

As the lower nature conservation authority, we mainly approve funds from compensation money (formerly nature conservation compensation levy), funds from the state of Hesse for the promotion of biodiversity with the primary aim of promoting species and habitats on the so-called Hesse List, and funds from the Waldeck-Frankenberg district for the promotion of biodiversity.

Funding is available in the form of full or partial financing.

No projects whose implementation is legally obligatory can be funded.

The following measures can be supported

• Species support measures, population support measures
• De-bushing of dry / rough grasslands
• Removal of landscape damage
• Renaturation of watercourses (floodplains, environment, riverbed, banks)
• Renaturation of spring areas
• Renaturation of still waters and creation of shallow ponds in the open countryside
• Planting meadow orchards
• Fruit tree planting (also rows, avenues)
• Planting of shrubs, copses, trees and hedges
• Conversion of arable land into extensive (permanent) grassland
• Restoration of special habitats
