Registration and performance of character tests on dogs
Performance specification
Dogs which the legislator considers to be potentially dangerous due to their breed or on occasion must be subjected to a temperament test. The owners of so-called "dangerous dogs" as well as other persons who handle the animal in public areas must also pass a test of competence. Only experts who have been appointed by the Darmstadt Regional Council in accordance with binding standards are responsible for carrying out the character test and for taking the expert examinations.
Information and registration for the character test can be obtained from the responsible public order office.
